Bio Pic - Fausta

At the blossoming age of three, Fausta was drawn to the violin, inspired by the performances of world renowned Itzhak Perlman. She began private, classical study at a young age, trained in the traditional Suzuki method. Throughout her years of study, she participated in NYSSMA and other solo and orchestral festivals, as well as in ensembles and competitions for young musicians.

Fausta began her professional career teaching with the Trillium Music Center, located in Watertown, NY. She was an instructor with Trillium for nearly ten years, while simultaneously building her private studio clientele. During this time she also embraced the opportunity to bring classical strings to local area schools and early childhood centers, through grant-funded programs.

While maintaining her studio, passionately devoted to providing classical instruction for violin and cello, Fausta currently performs throughout the tri-county region with her duet partner, Erin Shambo.  She has performed with the Northern Lights Orchestra since it’s inception in 2009 and continues to accept invitations to perform as a guest soloist throughout the region.

Although a career in music occupies a vast portion of her time, Fausta enjoys the fullness of family life as a wife and mother of three. She spends much of her day-time hours as a home educator, while evenings and weekends are spent instructing and performing. Fausta is also active in volunteering for various entities which include outreach centers, community organizations and church/school committees. Previously, she served on the Board of Education for St. Peter’s School before its closure and is currently an advisor for her church youth program as well as the head music minister at St. Hedwig's Parish.

Growing up in Lowville, NY, Erin was introduced to the violin by her family and began private and group instruction at a young age. Her study of violin with Agnes McCarthy, at the Trillium Music Center in Watertown, NY, provided a comprehensive foundation of musical training. Throughout her childhood, Erin also received training in piano and voice with Jan Lyndaker of Lowville, NY, and french horn with Penny Jay and Mark Brooker at Lowville Academy.  Her training in multiple instruments fed Erin’s growing love for music and a desire to share it, leading her to pursue a degree in music education.

After graduation from Lowville Academy Central, Erin attended SUNY Fredonia, followed by a transfer to the Crane School of Music, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in music education. Erin currently enjoys being a Senior Sales Associate at the Music & Arts storefront in Clay, NY. Some personal highlights of the position include fitting families with instrument rentals, coordinating the lesson program and helping customers with string instrument needs.

Erin has performed with various musical groups, including the Trillium Fiddlers, Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra, Fredonia Symphony Orchestra, Crane Symphony Orchestra, TJ Murphy Band, Northern Lights Orchestra and Richard Probert's annual Chorus/Orchestra concerts. Performance highlights include being featured as part of opening acts for country artists Alan Jackson and Jake Owen.

Additionally, Erin enjoys studying and performing a variety of music genres, to include solo repertoire, orchestral repertoire, and fiddle/folk. It is her goal to reach as many lives as possible through performing and teaching music.
